Due to the growing tension with Europa, and the spiralling situation within the area around the former-Baltirow-Woud, the Holy Empire has taken a step towards the formation of an Expeditionary Force, to move in if the polictal climate in the west of Europa degenerates and becomes a situation of war. It will be used in accords with the MATA pact. Forces are being drawn away from our civil conflict to the south of the country. This is consisting of 6 battalions of the People’s Guard, 1 of the Holy Imperial Guard, 1 squadron of the 12th Light Lancers (Scimitar tank regiment) and 1 battalion from the 9th Horse Archers (Warrior APC-mounted regiment). We have released the numbers of our force to make sure every nation knows the level of our commitment to the MATA. This force will ONLY be deployed if conflict breaks out, otherwise it will not leave Tagmatium. Our naval ships guarding our donations to the refugee crisis in the former-Baltirow-Woud have also been re-called.

In an extension of our trade embargoes against Byznatium Nova, Sevrun and Great Kings, we have extended it to the Allied States of Meteorola as well.

As i look at the notes and statements flying around the region at this time, i remain amazed at the lengths some will go to to protect the so called ‘freedom’ of the Baltirow people. The blockade of SSSS trade around Europa is a pointless action that will not help the people of Baltirow woud or divert the SSSS from their actions. Philian ships will continue to come to and from the SSSS, and we are not willing to participate in a blockade.

 

Our people who remain in the province of Baltirow report that there is little in the way of disruption with the SSSS troops in the area. Life for the Baltirow people continues as normal. There have been a few extremeists expressing their veiws on the streetsides, but no violence, and they are quick to dissapear when the SSSS troops arrive.

 

On the whole, the area has survived the reclamation by the SSSS well, with most residents either supporting the SSSS government, or seeing the benefits of joining as successful an economy as the Stoned Smurfs have.

 

On the whole, the actions of all nations have been extreme, ship blockades will accomplish nothing exept provoking the wrath of one of the most powerful nations in the region, Phil V will stand by her alliance agreement with the SSSS, although are unlikly to lend militery action if things turn for the worse. We will continue trade, with prosperity and success high on our agenda for the new time being.

Meteorola graciously accepts the apology of President Pot for the false imprisonment of Autumn Showers and expect her arrival in the next few hours. We are glad to see that the SSSS has decided to respect the diplomatic missions of other nations.

 

However, these events will make us much more careful about reopening a diplomatic mission of our own in SSSS. Meteorola would, with the permission of Phil V, like to utilize thier embassy in Southern Highs to carry our communications with the SSSS. (Cuba does this with the US through the Swiss embassy)

We have not engaged in any military action inside your national borders but we can assure you that you will never reach our shores alive. You have not seen an inch of our strength but we have had more then enough time to estimate yours. Warn your captains that any military ship from the ssss which enters our territorial waters will be regarded as an outlaw.

 

The Federation of Great Kings is holding wargames on the northern shores of the federation. We are using real fire and ask that all foreign forces stay away. If any of your ship were to be hit within our territorial waters, that would be your own mistake.

If this does break out into conflict, we would like Europa to know that the Holy Empire will move the TEF closer to the danager zone around the former-Baltirow-Would. This will probably mean a landing on the Cenape Islands. This will enable us to better move our forces in support of the SSSS there. As Ekainak is not claiming this land, we hope there will be no claims of invaison by any country. We are not occupying it permenantly, we will use it a base of opperations until it is not needed. Our navy will remain in positition, and continue search and seizure inspections of all SSSS vessels they come in contact with. We are tracking their fleet via satalite, and will deploy another part of our forces once the majority of their fleet is in the straight.

 

We will be counting on your support. Our weapons are advanced and our men are some of the best trained in the region, but they will still be outnumbered.

 

We must stand firm, and we must show the SSSS that they cannot do whatever they please and expect to get away with it.

This is why we gave Europa prior notice. Our occupation of the Cenape Islands is in order to help support the SSSS in any possible conflict over the former-Baltirow-Woud territories. Due to the small scale of our forces, roughly 5000 soldiers and support staff, it will not have any great impact on the camps there. In fact, the arrival of soldiers, with the necessary training and equipment, could even improve the conditions of the refugee camps in the Cenape Islands by improving clean water supplies and waste facilities. The TEF will only move if conflict breaks out, and until then, no move to land in the Cenapes will be made.

Meteorola has shot down another spy plane. This one is unmanned and we are having trouble determining its country of orgin. The drone was shot down just north of Lake Effect.

 

In response we have stepped up air and naval patrols around Meteorolan territory and in territorial waters. This includes all three islands off the coast of Baltirow-Woud.

 

Meteorola is still recognizing Baltirow-Woud as an independant country.

If the UN is to decide that the blockade is to end, then the blockade will end. Until that time, our ships will remain in the area and search all SSSS vessels that pass through.

 

Attacking the blockade, which is following UN guidelines for the situation and using confiscated cargo to support the refugees, will likely be seen as a terrorist act by the region as a whole.

 

Please consider fully what that would mean for your alliance, and the political state of your nations in the region as a whole.

We beg you to reconsider your stance on the blockade. You have one of the most powerful navies in Europa baring down upon your blockade, which, if it comes to it, will most likely blow your ships out of the water. For your sakes’, back down and let SSSS ships through to the east.

How can defendign ones’ own nation’s interestes be seen as a terrorist activity? Your nations, by their blockade of the SSSS East, have been causing hardships on a population who’s only crime, in your opinion, is to live in a different country. Your are killing innocent people by your selfish act of petty retaliation. Again, we ask you to stand down, before any more damage is done. Europa will look at you as the agressors, rather than the SSSS defending it own citizens. Re: Landings in the Cenape Islands

 

The TEF has been dispatched, and will land in the Cenape Islands in the next few days. This will be a small scale landing on the northern coast, and they have orders to set up a base and low-grade defensive positions. Once this has been done, to show our well-meaning intent for the Islands, they will then set about improving the conditions for the refugees in the camps. The Baltirowese will also be offered citizenship of the Holy Empire and free passage to Tagmatium if they so wish.

As we are not a member of the UN, after being thrown out for reasons beyond our control, the Holy Empire feels no reason why we should act with them or for them. We stand by the SSSS, and we resent the attitude of the UN, and, therefore, that of the UN delegate, Orioni, towards the people of the SSSS. The SSSS is legitimately defending its people, whilst other nations in Europa, who shall remain nameless, are attacking its citizenry in order to further their own ends.
