Two ships attacked

OOC: Who said that? You or Tamurin?

Admiral Grey stood up, and glanced at both of them. “I’m sure there won’t be any. Now, our units should meet 50 miles of our our coast around Horn Cay, we’ll give you the coordinates. What’s left of our fleet is headed there as we speak, as is Storm’s Mercenaries. A special operations unit is attempting to land as we speak, they’ll try and clear what they can. We need to hurry, the Nationalists are trying to reactivate the satellite missile network. Now, I must get back to my ships. Gentlemen, good day, and good luck.”

“Admiral, we’re picking up a message from one of our ships around that submarine.”

“Play it.”

" is the DNS engaging ~at coordinates torpedoes! ~damage along the side Batteries have fired~~ submarine hits, it’s ~the DNS~ nalist they’re sunk. Reque orders."

“Good, get their location, and send a message to Clavis.”

TO: Clavis

FROM: Deltannia Loyalists

We are trying to identify the submarine which engaged the Landers, but we have confirmed that it has been sunk. It was a Nationalist-controlled submarine, and we are sweeping the area for any more Nationalists ships.

A little cargo ships was approved to land along the docks of the city. As it pulled up to the wooden planks and crates, evey one of them got their guns ready and concealed. They wouldn’t go in fighting, if they did, they would be stopped there. They’d make their way to the city center, and if they took control of it, the Loyalists would be able to make a landing much more easily.

“Colonel, we’ve landed.”

“Thank you, Captain. Wait here unless you’re under attack. We’ll send a message. Everyone, let’s go.”

A note from Colonel O’Reilly:

"Admiral Grey. To ensure the flow of supplies after your landing, you should secure a harbor as soon as possible. We can then provide you even better with supplies and have them transported to the frontlines.

In that case (= a succesful landing), I’m authorized to offer you civil engineers who can repair any damages to bridges, roads and railways.

O’Reilly"

ooc: This might come a bit too soon… but here’s the landing…

The Deltannian coast was a dark line in the distance, and shrouded by the mists on the sea. From the landing craft the dim outline of the Laoshan, a Wasp class assault ship could also be seen. The Captain of the landing craft unfolded a pair of thermal imaging binoculars, through the fog either side were other Landing crafts, and over on the coast was a large area of red and yellow… the nationalists were there alright…

The silence was shattered, as three IJ-25 ‘Hyper Frogfoot’ aircraft roared overhead, there were thuds and shrieks from the beach. Shortly afterwards was the unmistakable sound of the rocket pods on the aircraft emptying their deadly load into enemy positions. There was a massive explosion in the sky, as one of the aircraft was blown out of the sky.

The Captain watched as the two remaining aircraft returned to a carrier out at sea, from what he could hear, one of them was damaged, it’s engine making a spluttering noise…

Then came the massive thuds of the guns on a battleship, 13 miles out at sea, it started to pour fire into enemy positions as the landing craft entered the bay. There was a grinding noise underneath the boat as the landing craft hit the beach, the doors fell open and marines poured out, with AGLs on the landing craft trying to mop up any resistance at the top of the beach…

OOC:

Might be, but there’s never a bad time for a battle.

The remainder of the Loyalist fleet began saturation attack on the coast. Shell cannons were being fired in an entire line through the mist. Aboard the damaged DNS Legacy, stood Fleet Admiral Connor Grey.

Captain Malaran stood next to him and spoke, “Sir, Ide Jiman forces have begun their engagement, including beach head landings, all forces are receiving supplies, and Karthenia’s engaging now. Storm’s Mercenaries are aiding Ide Jiman marines and ours along the beach. Enemy fighters and bombers have already began an attack on all ships”

The Admiral stood there and stared out from the bridge. He saw Deltannia through the mist, barely. “The incursion operation on Levana, what’s its status?”

“Sir, we’ve reports that the city operations are down. Either way, that portiong of the coast is totally neutralized.”

“Ask Tamurin to send medical supplies there, and tell them we’ll need some on the beach head soon. Don’t worry about engineers for now, but they’d be appreciated later.”

“Aye sir.”

“And Captain,” he said, concentrating hard on the coast. “I want the Legacy up there. We need to provide cover for our marines, there are many batteries, and we need to shell those air strips.”

“But, sir, we’ll be exposed to fire!”

“I will NOT wait here while we have men down there dying. Get the Legacy up there.”

The Lieutenant watched as his sergeant was shot down, the insignia of Storm’s Mercenaries split apart. Trenches and pillboxes covered this part of the coast, and the fire was pouring down on them. All their forces were being mowed down in the mist, it was hopeless. He had fought many times with the people who were now his enemy. When he was shot in the helmet, he gathered his courage, and began to ran for the cliffedge, yelling “Charge!”

ooc: What is the climate of Deltannia like? Is it jungle, or temperate or something else?

The Ide Jiman troops had found cover, but were pinned down by fire from enemy entrenchments at the top of the beach. Most were throwing grenades at enemy structures, but this was not having any effect. There were 4 distant thuds, and the mist out at sea flashed for a split second.

The Captain yelled “GET DOWN!”

As three massive shells from a Scharnhorst II class battleship out at sea crashed into the enemy fortifications. Finally, the battleship had hit home. The Marines swarmed up the beach, whilst others covered them.

The marines clambered into the rubble firing at any troops inside. Others drove back the enemy at bayonet point.

More marines were now coming onto the beach, as the Marines started to prepare for an attack on the Deltannian hinterland…

Tamurinian medics were running like shadows through the waves of soldiers from Deltannia and Ide Jima.

There were not really recognized but they were there, distributing medical supplies and helping the wounded. Special Forces were carrying the wounded from the battlefield and distributing ammunition to the frontline troops. Tamurinian helicopters were constantly flying from the cargo ships to the frontlines and more than once, they were forced to return fire to the nationalists or even attack a group of them, when they were endangering the lifes of their medics or Special Forces.

It was not the “Neutrality” some tamurinians at home had hoped for, but it was the “Neutrality” of Field Marshall von Steinburg…

Approaching the frontlines…

1200 Ide Jiman Marines were now onshore, with thousands more waiting in the ships out at sea.

The Captain cursed, enemy aircraft were harrassing his troops as they came into land, he ran to a dead marine radioman and grabbed the radio pack;

– Alert –

Come in Formidable, Come in… We are under heavy enemy air attack, scramble your fighters, repeat … scramble your fighters …

Five or so minutes later, 36 carrier based SU-30s thundered over the horizon, as they released missiles all the marines who were not fighting clutched their ears to protect them from the shreiking of the missiles that were going fast and heavy at enemy fighters…

What can i blow up! GAIUS WANT BLOW THINGS UP!

OOC: Sorry, I was out all of yesterday, and got back so tired… The climate of Deltannia is moderate, in the extreme north, since where I want it to be is in the north, will be a cooler climate, some snowy islands off the mainland. Off the beaches of the west are grasslands, steppes, that sort of thing. As you get closer in, there are evergreen forests (sorry, I forget the biology term, decidious?). There is a smaller dty area further inland.

“Admiral, all batteries are engaged on several airstrips to the northeast. All nations are reporting Nationalists are slowly pulling back from their positions, but there are still large portions of the beach still in heavy fighting.”

“Tell any elements not engaged to land on the secured areas. We’ll push in and then pull in from behind to secure the rest of the shores. Land all Devastator units.”

“Aye, sir, all of them?”

“Yes, Captain, all of them. They are no good to us waiting to be used.”

“Aye, sir.”

“What is the status of our infiltrations?”

“Riverboats have already begun to attack several positions, and they are trying to take Tolun Point. Several cities have ben taken by special ops teams, and Tamurin is sending in aid.”

“Good, contact all nations, and tell them to expect the coast to be clear within at most a day or so.”

“Yes, sir!”

“Orders from the Fleet Admiral, they want all Devastators deployed at the points were sending. We’re also sending vectors to follow and areas to cover. Let’s give our boys some help, and watch out for those bombers.”

OOC: Devastators are like these supertanks. I got the idea from the story Bolo by Keith Laumer. Don’t worry, though, they aren’t super, all-powerful destruction units, but think of them as large tanks. And very expensive to build, so don’t worry about me using thousands, or even hundreds of them. Also, if I get my spot on the map, I’m trying to get a place called Tolun Point as the primary academy/barracks/military post in Deltannia. Trying to get my nation in plot 49 for those who want to know where this might be taking place.

Ide Jiman Marines had the beach secured. Troops from Jiangwei’s 18 corps were now moving in to take over land operations, being ferried by chinook to the beach. Columns of troops were now moving onto the plains behind, with support from Marine artillery units set up on the beach.

The Marines were recuperating from the landing, and preparing to launch an offensive against the Deltannian capital.

Overhead, Ide Jiman fleet air arm F-35s and SU-33s roared, occasionally clashing with nationalist aircraft, which lead to some loud explosions overhead.

Wounded from Deltannia arriving in Hlondeth

Several aircrafts with wounded from Deltannia arrived in Hlondeth today. They were sent immediately to several Army hospitals.

The wounded are almost entirely loyalist soldiers from Deltannia who were fighting in the invasion. The wounded were brought back via Helicopter to Meteorola and from there with aircrafts to Tamurin. Until now, 183 wounded have arrived.

Search-and-Rescue-helicopters are patrolling all frontlines. They fly out wounded soldiers and supply the frontline troops with ammunition and supplies.

Field Marshall von Steinburg requested assault helicopters as support for the SAR-helicopters, but Vice-President Sumner vetoed against it. The isolationists said, that they’d vote for re-elections if President Hartman ordered the assault helicopters to the frontlines. The isolationist party holds 44 % of all seats in the parliament. All of the congressmen are defectors from other parties, like the socialists, the conservatives and the liberals.

SAR-helicopter over Deltannia

Fleet Admiral Grey arrived on the secured coastline with Commander Storm. They surveyed the scene, it was clean up now. Medics were rushing left and right, and the temporary hospital was set up. Defenses were being set up, they weren’t going to lose the beach and have to do this again.

“How were your losses, Commander?”

“Not too bad. A few more than I would have liked, but that’s war, that’s the business.”

“Yes, it is. We’ve lost way too many. I’m glad Tamurin has been able to render all the aid it has. Now, do you have enough for the inland strike?”

“Of course.”

“Good, Ide Jima has its forces set up and ready to go, and ours are already trying to cause chaos in the countryside. And, Tolun Point is under siege.”

“Good, we’ll bring some of our own gunboats up the rivers and hopefully well take the Point. I’ve got a meeting with my staff, I’ll talk later.”

Grey bid him farewell and looked back to the scene, looking up just in time to see another mortal shell impact the ground just a little too close to him.

Xenai was uneasy, the flat grassland behind the beaches provided little cover, and the morning fog was rising fast. In the skies overhead were groaning and screeching noises, as Ide Jiman fleet air arm F-35s fought the Nationalist airforces. 60 Commando Corps, which had been nicknamed the ‘Hellraisers’ in the native wars were getting ready to move onto the higher ground in the distance.

The troops donned body armour, and started to move into the countryside, first taking small villages to use as bases and hospitals. At one small farming village inland (a typical Deltannian name?) Ide Jiman commandos clashed with heavily armed nationalist infantry.

300 Ide Jiman troops, from Jiangwei’s forces entered the village. They carried standard army issue FN-2000 assault rifles. There was a mild drizzle in the air, but everything seemed to be in order. A sergeant approached a house and knocked on the door. No answer. The windows in the main street all seemed to start firing at the troops. The forces were surrounded.

A lengthy firefight ensued, but eventually… after heavu losses the Ide Jiman troops fell back to the countryside. Ide Jiman armoured units were being bought forward to deal with this. The skies were still full of fighting aircraft at this time, so air strikes would be risky.

Meanwhile, further south Marine forces had come within 68 miles of the deltannian capital, suffering relatively low losses.

LOSSES

Marines: 57

Infantrymen: 69

F-35: 4

BCI Buccaneer II: 1

OOC: Typical Deltannian name? I don’t know, I make them up… there’s no formula or real ring to them…

Within a few short days, much of Deltannia had been retaken. Ide Jiman and Loyalist forces were now within 40 miles of the capital, the coasts were taken, with all forces moving inland. Most of the rivers were either taken or being patrolled. Tolun Point was now defeated, the remaining Nationalist forces were leaving it now.

Even so, he stood disatisfied in this little town. Cortana, his hometown where he grew up, where the riots took place, never looked like this. It was razed completely. The little cobblestone streets had black craters in them, as did the little shops and houses. A sign stood on its side, pointing to various other nearby towns, all access roads destroyed anyway. He was sure they all had similar fates as he looked as far as he could into the fog…

*A radio in the capital, Delta*

…The enemies are closing in on us. The Stolera Mines have been taken, Corda, Salanar, Malthae, Ichijin (pronounced Ikijin), Tolun Point. They’re less than 40 miles away, help us now! Gather your arms and fight for Deltannia!

The pilot took his helicopter nice and low, and witnessed the full frontal assault. Devastators on both sides were firing, the sound was overwhelming, even with the copters’ blade going full speed. Maelstrom cannons left and right were being fired, and without knowing it, one of them hit. The pilot jumped out, no one else did. He couldn’t be sure which side that blast came from, it was too chaotic, but one of the Devstator crews must have noticed him and shot him and his parachute right through…

OOC: I’m going away for a few days, so…

*News Network of Deltannia…*

"After several days of fighting, the all Nationalists forces have been forced out of the cities and into the deep countryside. Here’s what Fleet Admiral Grey had to say:

‘We’ve lost so many lives. We’ve been forced out of the country we’ve fought to protect. And now we’re going to make sure that doesn’t change. We’re asking for citizen support, turn over any member of the Nationalist forces, and save Deltannia…’

Several other high ranking officers reported the help given by other countries, and their continuing assistance in chasing down the enemies of the state."

ooc: Ok, I’ll wait till you get back before continuing

The squad moved through the forest, running swiftly and silently. The entire battallion was ready (500 men), and Company C and D were up on the ridge. Company A and E were several miles back, they needed a strong rear guard during the chase. And his company came up to the river.

The Loyalist forces moved up the river, several gunboats in all. A few more miles to go, and they might stumble upon the counterattack. So, so close to those boats, three companies opened fire, grenades from above, bullets from the side, and all the men on those boats were dead.
